DC Comics
The DC Comics projects:
Although I’m mainly interested in DC Comics’ WWII stories – pulled from the pagers of G.I. Combat, All-American Men of War, Sgt. Rock, etc. these projects may drift a bit further afield as well. My main focus will be 1/72 scale semi-dioramas inspired by (but not necessarily depictions of) scenes pulled from the four-colour pages.
My DC Comics 1/72 scale projects are semi-diorama (i.e. slightly staged) representations of the airplanes/tanks/other vehicles as they appear in the various comics series.
While this category is the focus of my current build plans, I may add more project categories (such as 1/144 scale) as the whimsy takes me.
The passion:
What can I say? I love Area 88, Tintin, the Leijiverse, and the Studio Ghibli films, but they all stem from the same source – my passion for comic books… mostly DC Comics. Honestly though, the DC war comics weren’t my favourites. I was a much bigger fan of The Flash, the Legion of Super-Heroes than Sgt. Rock, The Losers or The Unknown Soldier, but it’s funny how these things can come full circle. My passion for DC Comics spread to other areas, which led to model building, which led me back… here. Through model building, I’ve (re)discovered some of the great stories I missed out on the first time around. So there’s no doubt now that I’m as big a fan now of crew of the Haunted Tank, Johnny Cloud, Hans von Hammer, and the Unknown Soldier as any other DC comics super-hero.
