Area 88 – 1/12 scale figures projects

So, although my Area 88 Project is primarily about the airplanes and tanks, etc. that appear in the manga, I’m not above dabbling in a few other areas.  As I already mentioned in my 1/100 scale projects page, I’m also interested in figure painting.  While the 1/24 scale figures that accompany many of the Takara 1/100 scale kits are nice, they’re still the minor leagues compare to the 1/12 scale beauties.

No Area 88 model collection can be complete without the combo 1/12 scale figures and 1/144 (and 1/400) scale models that were released by Hasegawa in 1996.  Given that 1/144 is not one of Hasegawa’s “house scales”, most of the airplane kits are reboxings of Dragon kits.  While the kits are nice, you should really be buying these for the highly detailed resin statues of several of the series’ main characters.

Although many of the planes will be used in my 1/144 scale projects, the resin kits will be stand alone projects.
