Tintin’s Imaginary Museum – 1/72 scale
Welcome to my musée imaginaire de Tintin à l’échelle 1/72 – or “Tintin’s 1/72 scale Imaginary Museum” for us anglophones. For my Tintin museum project, I initially aimed to have some sort of “meaningful” representation from each of the albums – meaning a vehicle Tintin actively drives/pilots/rides or is otherwise central to (and representative of) the storyline. However, as the project developed, and I began to meet my initial goal, I decided to expand the scope. So, while I was initially just trying to chose at least one (or two) subjects from each of the 24 albums, at this point there’s really no limit. If it’s a Tintin-related vehicle, it’s in scope.
For the sake of consistency (and shelf space) I’ve decided to designate 1/72 as my “imaginary museum” scale. However, this scale is not without its challenges. So, while this works relatively well for the airplane models – given the large number of commercially available kits in that scale – it poses something of a challenge for projects featuring cars, trains, ships… and rocket ships!
Also, while there may be a bit of action depicted, it’s done in museum-display style rather than an actual diorama.
